The Problem
- The commercial opening needed visibility through a solid metal door without replacing the full frame or changing the purpose of the entrance.
- A simple glass insert could not be added without preparing the metal door correctly.
- The door also needed hardware and a closer so the finished opening would operate safely and close in a controlled way.
How We Fixed It
- We prepared the hollow metal door for a new vision lite, cut the opening, and installed GPW wired glass suited to the door application.
- The door was then completed with the required hardware and door closer.
- After the glass and hardware were installed, the door was checked for alignment, controlled closing, and practical visibility through the new lite.
Metal Door, Vision Lite & Closer Coordination
When a metal door is modified for glass, the door, vision lite, frame, and closer all have to work together. The cut opening must be accurate, the glass must suit the application, and the closer must control the heavier commercial door after installation.
Final Result
The finished metal door now includes a GPW wired glass vision lite for visibility and a properly installed closer for controlled operation, while keeping the durability of the commercial door system.
